Martin Swinger has been singing and writing songs since elementary school and has performed music and theatre professionally for 30 years. He has national songwriting and performance awards to his credit and is a well known and much loved personality and family entertainer in schools and festivals and appears on cable television throughout Maine. He is also a respected music educator for children and adults. He tours across New England, to Kentucky, Georgia and Texas, but enjoys calling Maine his home, except in January when it's too darn cold to enjoy.
Martin Swinger has been teaching songwriting to K-6 students in classrooms, at afterschool programs, libraries, festivals, summer camps, family gatherings - anywhere children might gather - for 12 years.
He teaches teachers and children's event leaders how to incorporate songwriting activities into the programs they offer and teaches singing games to (non musically minded) child care providers interested in incorporating more singing into their day-to-day activities. He has offered these Continuing Education Trainings through schools, libraries, arts and education literacy training events and always receives high praise in feedback.
He leads an excellent Sing-Around-The-Campfire (MANY years experience!) and offers family entertainment at local and national festivals.
In his spare time he writes and performs songs for grown-ups AND sings with and leads improvisational singing with a five member ensemble, ImproVox !
